Common Indicators of Breast Cancer

If by chance you feel you have lumps or bumps around your breast and possible areas do not take any chances. Have yourself screened and examined. You can never know if the nodes are benign or malignant unless you consult your doctor. But in the early stages of breast cancer symptoms are hardly noticeable. Only when a tumor develops that some indicators are apparent.

Deem it disturbing when a lump in the breast or underarm refuses to go away after the monthly period. The lumps are generally painless but in some cases may bring about a tickly sensation. But lumps are commonly able to be seen on a mammogram even before they are felt or seen.

A thickening not only around the breast area but a swelling will also occur in the armpit. The nipples become tender if the tumor has been found to be malignant. Some changes are noticeable on how the breast and nipples look. Usually the nipples are upright but if the nipples are turned inward into the breast can be a sign.
Aside from the changed form itching or burning sensation or ulceration can happen. If there is scaling of the nipple this is symptomatic of Paget’s disease, limited to a small area.

Abnormal discharges from the nipple either clear fluid, bloody or another color I another characteristic of breast cancer. Although benign conditions can also cause this, the discharges may not be diagnosed as cancer.

Unusual color changes, size, form and texture or temperature in the breast and the nipples are common indicators of breast cancer. But reddish, ridges or pitting surface like the skin of an orange is regarded as advanced breast cancer. Other than that if color or stain like variegated marble is evident around the breast area chances are there is the presence of breast cancer.

It is when the area in or around the breast is markedly different from any other area on either breast, is a surefire indication of this type of cancer. Lumps on either breast or the armpits can also be associated with breast cancer. Sometimes the causes may be other than cancer but it is always best to have yourself screened or examined by a qualified medical practitioner.

In its early stages, breast cancer is usually not painful. But if the symptoms persist it is always wise to consult a professional. Most often than not, these symptoms are unlikely to cause cancer. Other health problems may cause them. But early detection can prove advantageous.

Once you have it coping can be stressful but when you understand what you are going through managing and living with breast cancer can be accepted as what it is. May be even the seeking of treatments and medications cannot wary you. There will be that dogged determination to quash breast cancer as much as possible.
